Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is my email forward getting a blocked error?

A: We have implemented a block on the forwarding of email to the domains listed below. When spam email is sent to email addresses on our server that are setup to automatically forward email to the domains below, the spam is seen as originating from our email server, not the spammer's server. As a result the VisionIS email server can get blacklisted by these domains so that legitimate email sent from the server gets blocked.

Please understand that this is only a block on forwards setup on the mail server to these domains. It will not block regular email sent to these domains. The whole idea here is to prevent regular email (email originated from our server) from getting rejected by these domains.

While it is understood this may be an inconvenience for many, it is the only way to deal with the draconian policies of these sites. It is also a huge drain on tech support resources to keep responding to complaints by end users and in time spent getting off the blacklists.

The domains are:

aol.com
comcast.net
qwest.net
verizon.net
msn.com
hotmail.com
live.com
yahoo.com
att.net
swbell.net
sbcglobal.net
prodigy.net
snet.net
bellsouth.net
pacbell.net
ameritech.net
nvbell.net

Customers with full email accounts who are currently forwarding to these domains will need to remove the forward and create a new account in their email client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.) or use the webmail interface.

Customers who just have forwards setup will have to delete the forward and create a full email account and use an email client or the webmail interface if they still want to use that address.

The forward blocking policy for the above domain went into effect on Thursday, April 24, 2008.

If you need help in setting up accounts in an email client or have other questions please contact support at [email protected] or call 800-664-8113 to setup a call-back.

Thank you very much for your cooperation with this policy.
